Small Packages

This is a blog about moving forward after devastating loss.

I started this blog in December 2014, roughly eight months after my son, Wil, committed suicide at my home in Little Rock, Arkansas. I continue to struggle with my loss every day, but I strive to move forward for myself, my surviving son Davis, my family and to honor Wil. I knew my son well, and I know that he would not want me to fold up and stop living.

My message with this blog is simple. "If I can get through the tragedy that I've been through, you can get through whatever it is you're going through."

My hope is that people who read this blog will be inspired to move forward through whatever it is they are going through.

Tragic loss changes all of us forever, but we have to move forward. We have to continue living for ourselves and for those around us.

What I know about my son is that he did not want to be unhappy. And, he did not want others to be unhappy. So, to honor him, I decided early on to live. I don’t mean I made the choice between life and death. I mean I made the choice to LIVE, not just exist.
